A Reagan Moment

Trey Jackson has a great tribute post in honor of President Reagan's birthday. It's in sharp contrast to the Cat Fight (funny hat tip to Chad "the Elder" for both tips).
Cat Fight In MN Senate
If you want to catch all the action from Thursday's Minnesota Senate debate on whether to establish February 6th as Ronald Reagan Day in Minnesota follow this link. The fun starts at about one hour fifty minutes into the session (fast forward to the 1:50 mark) when Senator Michele Bachmann rose to introduce the resolution.
Trey asks readers for their "Reagan Moments." That certainly wasn't it, but this is -- listening to the "A Time for Choosing Speech" Reagan made on behalf of Barry Goldwater back in 1964. I still have yet to find a more concise statement of, a more moving portrayal of, a loftier vision of the American Dream than is encapsulatd in this speech.

The challenge of that speech rings as true today as it did in 1964 and as true as it will in 2064 and beyond. It is the challenge for every generation that deserves the honor of being Americans.
You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children's children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.
