Tax Dollars at Work

Posted by Craig Westover | 11:47 AM |

You knew it had to happen. Agencies of the state government are now fining each other.

According to the Pioneer Press, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has fined the Metropolitan Airports Commission $69,076 for polluting the Minnesota River and two nearby lakes.

Now I suppose on one level this makes some sense -- MAC should be held to the same pollution standards as private industry. But there’s just something a little unsettling about a state commission funded by tax dollars being fined by a state agency funded by tax dollars when if either or both should exceed their budgets, they will go to the legislature for more tax dollars.

Oh well, it’s nice to see our tax dollars at work.
